One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish.

Republican Saxby Chambliss has won the runoff for Georgia's Senate seat against Democrat Jim Martin by a 57 to 43% margin with 97% of the votes tabulated. African American's that overwhemingly voted Democrat in record numbers in the presidential election evidently sat on the sidelines for this one.

The retention of the seat was vital to the Republicans attempts to keep the Democrats from having a filibuster proof majority so that they can continue to play the obstructionist role. Chambliss was helped by a huge national push featuring such luminaries as Sarah Palin and John McCain. Unfortunately the President-elect declined a request to help Martin, a declination that he might rue later in his term. However with middle of the road Rep moderates like Collins and Snowe in the equation, the future is not really too dark.

Chambliss, who never served in the military, received notoriety for his brutal campaign that lampooned his paraplegic veteran opponent Max Cleland in the last election.

Chambliss was introduced at his victory party Tuesday night by Republican National Committee Chairman Robert M. "Mike" Duncan as "Mr. 41," and he declared that Republicans "now have the momentum" after his victory. Yeah, Mike, right...

What it does do is cement another block in the Republican's stranglehold on the evangelical south, it's last bastion.
I saw a statistic last week, that out of all the red states, Texas is the only one that actually contributes more to the federal coffers than it receives from them. (I have to think that Alaska does as well.) So the people in the blue states are now effectively subsidizing these parasitic troglodytes. But you redstaters can all get together now in your little constricted pocket, burn your crosses, eat your babybacks, and wail about the carpetbaggers, but please realize that we are getting a little tired of supporting your lazy asses. Start producing or we cut off your allowance.
