Hellbound Train

We have mined a lot of musical genres here at blast radio. At last count I have plumbed delta through chicago blues, some beebop, acid rock, bluegrass, soul, funk, western, a smattering of classical when we needed lifting up, bubblegum, british invasion, the thirties, forties, fifties and sixties, protest, Woody Guthrie, Garage, disco, some eighties, rhythm and noise, reggae, folk, big band, crooners, world beat, ska, female psychedelic, singer song writers, gospel, swing, jazz, new wave, punk, skiffle, r&b, polka, ranchera, Harry Partch, pretty much the whole gamut. Heck I have played Abba and BeeGees. But there are a couple of notable exceptions. I have not done a lot of heavy metal. No ranchera or banda. Very little rap or hip hop. Weak on southern rock. Not a lot of major 7th yacht rock of the Wildfire, David Gates and Bread ilk. Not any hair metal of the Poison variety. Little art rock of the Yes, Genesis, Crimson, Asia persuasion.

With these holes evident in my game I will try to do some patching in the coming week. I am definitely open to suggestions. We are in some dire need of a few rock chestnuts. Those of us who came of age in the seventies need no longer feel ashamed of our ill timed musical birthright. Visualize the ford Econoline van with the bong spilled shag carpeting and the little porthole window and lets get this party started.

I need some seventies anthems like this one that can stand on their own two feet without ridicule. Give me a hand. Listen to your innermost Marshall Tucker and help me out. I will not embarrass you, I promise. Will see your Freebird and raise you one Ronnie Montrose.

I met the guys from Savoy Brown on the LIRR fifteen years ago. Thought I was the only one in Southern California familiar with their prescient "Hellbound Train!"

.38 Special had a brief vogue. Like so many musicians, thought giving people a album/cassette made for a nice tip. Not!

go for a Lithuanian demographic with some Arvo Part.....
