Shit.

Just got a message that I have too many private blog readers. Google is cutting me off. I need to figure out what to do. Because I can't limit it to a hundred people. Guess I will have to go back to being public again. Damn. Fun while it lasted. New policy - don't like what I'm saying, you don't have to read me.

Message of explanation from Google. Who knew?

The limit of 100 members (including of course you) is hard, and is based upon a system limit.  If you have over 100 people reading, including some reading using the "invitation preview", eventually one of two things will happen, to somebody:
  1. The invitation will expire, and your "member" will become personally insulted.
  2. The "member" will try to exercise the membership, and the system will terminate with an error (maybe, a bX code).  The "member" will be personally insulted.
It's like writing overdrawn bank checques, based upon "float" because you have a paycheck coming tomorrow.  One day, it catches up with you.

Complicating matters, we have the two GUIs, each with their own different limiting policies - including the "2 week limit", which is not consistent.  And some owners have found that you can jump back and forth between the GUIs, and maybe wring one or two more "members" out of the system (similar to writing a cheque to the phone company, and sending that with the bill payment to the electric company).

I had no idea there was a limit! Live and learn.

Another reason not to go private.

Sorry to have to go. But you are a very interesting read. I read you on fire fox, which is my only complaint. the screen don't fit. have to scroll to the left to fit the column. Tried you in chrome also, same problem. Part of the problem may be in Google analytics. You see I've read you on three different machines. Each has a different cookie from Google, two of the Os's cut me off. My one's running chrome, and Mint/14. My Mint 13 i can still use but if you have to cut someone to save a friend,I'll understand.

Going public puts you into the prior situation. I think that situation came up because the blog eas getting important. Here in the former KKK haven of Fallbrook was a liberal "radio tower" broadcasting thoughts that offend some of the Fallbrook "ruling class". The more success you have the more of a gadfly you become. Put your armor on.

Have you considered ditching corporate-controlled platforms, and rolling your own?

You've already got your own domain... find an inexpensive hosting service (I use HostGator) and use some Mac-based blogging software to handle the coding.

I know it's a jump, but this might be the perfect time to do it... Good luck - I'll be reading as long as I can still access the site!
