A longtime colleague is conducting scholarly research and preparing a possible monograph on the Bay Area and New York artist Irene Taverner.
Taverner (1925 - 2011) was a very accomplished and interesting painter who shared studio space with Franz Kline and cavorted with a panoply of beatniks, writers, artists and jazz musicians, including Billie Holliday, Art Blakey, Charlie Parker and Dylan Thomas.
Born in Wales, she immigrated to the United States in 1950. Irene showed her work at prestigious shows on both coasts. If anyone has paintings, pictures, information, anecdotes or any other errata concerning Taverner please email them to Greg Boren at firstname.lastname@example.org.
