I notice that you always tend to put politics aside. Impossible to put them aside with this song but be my guest. Nice multicultural crowd too.

more accurate to say that i usually put politics aside; whatever; frankly i don't give a shit.

you cant really separate the song from politics, give it a listen. The references to George Wallace, watergate, Neil Young, racism, unless of course you are just talking about the groovy chord progression.

i can and i do, but just to fuckin' appease you i shall give the canticle in question an assiduous examination, just as soon as i can clear space in my incredibly dense goddam docket. have an adequate day.

Its no sweat off my ass either way. The song, to me, is a tale of defiance, southern pride, blah, blah, blah. No yankee going to tell Paula Deen 'bout the niggers.

My point is that it is hard to miss the underlying message, the nose thumbing in these lyrics and to call it a frigging great song without considering the message seems to be missing something. But this conversation I think we can now put to bed, I am sure it is getting boring.

actually it's more about great guitar licks than groovy chord progressions, and this song got a baddass lick fo' sho'..as for Paula, that be a whole other pile o' poop; whatever happened to the First Amendment, anyways? it's only words, man, as Lenny so eloquently put it; shit, i'm fit to be tied; you dump on me, then you wanna put it all to bed; after months of begging me to come back to the fold; be kind to the grumpster indeed; i don't really care anymore; you're surrounded by synchophants, they pray for you nightly, to paraphrase his Bobness...when the foot of pride come down, there ain't no goin' back....
