On the Stork Tower

黄河入海流。
欲穷千里目,
更上一层楼。

Hi,

I always enjoy a silent read-in and the beautiful photographs on your site.
However, if I'm not mistaken this particular photo doesn't seem to show a stork but a great egret. If in fact I am mistaken, a word of correction would be appreciated.

The best to you and your relations and a peaceful new year from germany

Rick, I used a little artistic license, not having a suitable picture of a stork on high. The poem is a very famous Chinese piece fro the Tang empire and I thought that the small deviation was acceptable. Good eye.

Blue heron,

it's entirely acceptable especially in this context.
I didn't wanna come across as a smartass and I'm going
to do some read-up on classical chinese poetry. Thanks for the tip.

all the best

You are not, if you are who I think you are, you are one of the best bird photographers on the planet. Mr. Landers?

Blue Heron,

sorry to disappoint - I'm not Mr. Landers.
I am really just Rick from Germany but I do care a great deal about birds and bird photography.
My wife and me are teachers and work with refugee children and their parents, hopefully showing them how much there is to appreciate in the diverse natural environments of their new home country.
And yes - there are severe problems with mercury waste in Europe as well, especially in the south. You are not alone in being mad as hell.
