Quick Sunday ramble

Are you getting bombarded with money raising pleas on YouTube from the Democratic Senatorial candidate in Texas, James Talarico?

 I am.

I can't stand his opponent, Ken Paxton and would never vote for the GOP candidate if I lived in Texas but there is something really nauseating about Talarico too, his hand gestures seem forced and disingenuous.

Sick of him asking me for a dollar.

Ossoff I like, I will send him a dollar.

Another phenomenon I am not quite ready for is the shuffle dance. I see it on YouTube shorts, mostly from Electronic Dance Festivals.

Looks like a hell of a cardio workout but exactly what drugs are these people on?

*

More than 1 million children lost access to food benefits after Trump bill passed - way to go starve the children and fire all the food inspectors until everybody else is shitting themselves.

Two people I am pretty sick of at this point, Bill Maher and John Fetterman. The final straw with Maher is him championing Bari Weiss, the CBS head who asked her reporters to lie and create false narratives so that the network can go full Maga.

Fetterman is a capo for sure, there is nothing democrat about the guy whatsoever. Independence is one thing but he prides himself on screwing his party members, much like the departed Senator from West Virginia, Joe Manchin. Total dinos, love to be the turd in the punchbowl.

Ever notice how the Fox empire, specifically the New York Post, runs article after article denigrating California? So scripted. I have friends from back east, all worked about the sorry golden state. News for you, we are doing just fine. Don't like it here, move, we won't miss you.

  1. Robert, glad to see that we (still) pretty much agree on the sad state of US politics. !00% agree on Ossoff - he's the real deal. On Talarico, I dislike his religion-forward sanctimonious stance, but...Paxton is pure evil. I'd vote for almost anyone vs Paxton. In cases like this, gotta vote against evil.

Also agree on Fetterman and Maher. Fetterman is a flake, a waste of time, and certainly not a Democrat. I've loved watching Maher for a few years, but lately his position and actions are...weird. It's one thing to be a contrarian - it's another to cross the line and join the other (evil) team.

I keep using the word "evil", and it's intentional. I truly believe the Trump admin and a lot of the GOP is evil. Infinite money in politics has corrupted them beyond all hope. The Dems aren't much better in terms of money corruption, but at least our policies still emphasize making citizens' live better. Feed the hungry. Keep our air and water clean, our food and drugs safe. Enforce borders and immigration with logic and compassion, not with violence and malice. Stop killing people in meaningless wars. Support science and education, without religious interference. And so on.

We've had a decade of mostly evil US leadership, with a COVID-era intermission. I hope I live long enough to see this change.

  2. I really hope that this is the time when everything seems pretty hopeless before things turn around. Still, I am not so sure. Trump got his ass elected because we, the US, are in bad shape with the self assured elites taking care of number one and bleeding the commoners to death. If trump is the symptom of the trouble not the cause then we may inherit a deeply damaged country sans Trump. While we have turned around before I don't know if we have it in us now, particularly with billionaires having a stranglehold on nearly everything.
