Beach Boys a cappella

Arguably the greatest American vocal harmonizers. Right up there with The Beatles and maybe beyond.

I remember reading an interview with I believe Wilson's father talking about driving the kids around in his car when the oldest was about 14 with their Love cousins. Maybe Jardine. They would sing a cappella like this in the car and it just blew him away.

I always think of gregorian chants when I hear them. I have seen them several times and maybe should catch the next tour. Because they really are that good.

I understand that Brain Wilson is joining the remaining Beach Boys on their next tour... he has been absent from them for about 40 years.

Small, old world story: in about 1961, when I was12, there was an event at the Santa Monica Civic auditorium called "Surf-O-Rama". It had various displays, booths, films ... all about surfing. This was 2 years after Gidget.

Playing in the lobby was the brand new singing group "The Beach Boys". I remember them in their stripped shirts playing and singing. I am sure that was one of their first gigs.

so true; much as i loved the Beatles, the Boys' harmonies were supreme; Pet Sounds, and the albums that came out of the Smile sessions, were so amazing; to this day; but they were never the same since; better to remember them in their prime.
