I couldn't help but notice this incredible flower from their deck, about fourteen foot tall at minimum.
What in the heck produced a bloom of such a lustrous amaranth color?
I don't think I have ever seen one quite like it before.
We walked down the slope.
It was a marvelous dasylirion longissimum but with the most lovely and unusually richly colored flower spike I have ever seen. They can be quite muted.
I have one decent specimen of this plant, and five or six small ones, several more of the broader leafed wheeleri variety.
What a wonderful bloom.
The contrast with the stark white stalk only adds to the allure.
RoxAnn has quite the green thumb!
