Made famous four years later by the Allman Brothers, this 1967 version by John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers certainly holds its own. Lead guitar and vocal by one Peter Green.
The song was written by Willie Cobb in 1960 and then Chicago bluesman Junior Wells did a nice remake on his 1965 record Hoodoo Man Blues. A good Jamaican version was recorded by Dawn Penn in 1967. Supersession recorded it too, an outstanding job, with an incredibly psychedelic vocal by Al Kooper. The song is originally derived from the 1955 Bo Diddley cut on Checker, She's fine, she's mine and after listening it you wonder how Cobb gets any writing credit whatsoever?
I still think the Allmans are the gold standard for this particular track.
