Message from Janis Ian

Stan sent this along - he's a friend of Janis Ian -

For those of you who don't know, the McCain campaign have been using Gretchen Peters' song "Independence Day" as a politicking tool. Gretchen has objected over and over again, but they persist - and actually, there's no real law against it, since it's also being sung by Martina McBride (a Republican.)
Gretchen announced that she was going to donate all the royalties from the song to Planned Parenthood, in Palin's name. She's since received a firestorm of hate mail.
She sent me this today, though. Anyone who wants to comment, please do as she asks!
Mind you, this is not to say McCain is evil - I just think it's horrifically rude to use a songwriter's words, over their objections, to represent a political stance that writer disagrees with. I'm constantly fending off sites that want to use "At 17" to promote things I don't believe in. I'd feel the same way if Obama was doing it.
By the way, anyone wanting to send Gretchen a note can do so to the address below. She does indeed read her own email, just as I do.
Janis

Watch all the way to the end - the credit page for Independence Day is great. They asked me if they could use my version since Martina, er, bats for the other side.
Also please leave a comment and/or forward to as many friends as you think would enjoy it - especially in swing states. The more comments/ views, the more visibility.
