Fire and Brimstone

I got a somewhat strange email yesterday from a friend that weirded me out a little bit. Apparently many Christians are afraid that Barack Obama could be the Antichrist. Now I am a little over 50 years old, and I think the potential antichrist has shown up about 100 times in my lifetime already.

I am not a particularly religious sort and must confess to not knowing really what the antichrist is. As far as the bible goes, I like the homespun wisdom of proverbs and the beautiful lyricism of psalms but never could actually grok revelations. Now I must admit it has a cool science fiction feel. Not that different from the minions of planet Xenu. Seven lambs and seals, very trippy but probably useless and wasted on a guy like me. Shutters on my eyes and all that.

So who exactly is the antichrist? I imagine sort of a Lex Luthor evil second in command. Whelp of Beelzebub. I would be a little more concerned if I actually believed in Hell and the Devil but tend to think it exists here on earth and likes to frequent bad marriages and being forced to watch the neighbor's old home movies.

Anyhow, here is the message and don't say I didn't warn you...

This will make you re-think: A Trivia question in Sunday School:
How long is the beast allowed to have authority in Revelations?

Revelations Chapter 13 tells us it is 42 months, and you know what that is.
Almost a four-year term of a Presidency.

All I can say is 'Lord, Have mercy on us!'

According to The Book of Revelations the anti-Christ is: The anti-Christ will
be a man, in his 40's, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with
persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal....the prophecy says
that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace,
and when he is in power, will destroy everything..

Do we recognize this description??

I STRONGLY URGE each one of you to post this as many times as
you can! Each opportunity that you have to send it to a friend or media outlet..do it!
I refuse to take a chance on this unknown candidate who came out of nowhere

From: Dr. John Tisdale

Dear Friends,

As I was listening to a news program last night, I watched in horror as Barack Obama made the statement with pride. . .'we are no longer a Christian nation; we are now a nation of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, . . .' As with so many other statements I've heard him (and his wife) make, I never thought I'd see the day that I'd hear something like that from a presidential candidate in this nation. To think our forefathers fought and died for the right for our nation to be a Christian nation--and to have this man say with pride that we are no longer that. How far this nation has come from what our founding fathers intended it to be.

I hope that each of you will do what I'm doing now--send your concerns, written simply and sincerely, to the Christians on your email list. With God's help, and He is still in control of this nation and all else, we can show this man and the world in November that we are, indeed, still a Christian nation!

scary and stupid and scarier still....where did the crap about the Muslims come from? DIdn't Mohammed arrive 500 years AFTER Jesus?
I could have sworn it was the JEWS....damn, I musta fallen asleep during Hebrew School. I am all confused. For a while, I thought the anti Christ was my Roman Catholic ex wife, because my Eastern Orthodox friend Nicky told me, the POPE was the antichrist....but then my Gay episcopal priest explained that the antichrist was the one sitting at the last supper, third from the right, second row, but that conflicted with L Ron Hubbard's claim that we all came from a giant cosmic CLAM 75 million years ago, and that's WAY WAY before Adam and Eve....can somebody help me out?
On my way to a courtroom in lower Manhattan because I was told the judge was going to order that three teenagers caught writing graffitti were going to be tarred and feathered! Apparently, this is still legal!! What a relief.

Dr. John Tisdale is a paranoid angry misleading person.
It is a shame that heretics and self righteous interpretors of the Bible can spread their hate thru the internet.
What is most disturbing, they use the name of Jesus to destroy any religion they basically know nothing of. Far more damaging they turn off people to the Christian faith by ignoring the words of Christ and adding in their own interpretation of Revalations. Scholars and divinity experts spend their whole lives trying to understand the Book of Revalations. It is amazing Mr. Tisdale figured it out so easily.
If Dr.Tisdale is so brilliant as to decipher Revalations then why is he so ignorant as to call Christian Obama a Muslim? Calling anybody the anti-Christ is pretty bold.
Please ask the prophetic Dr. Tisdale to predict and post the scores of the Phillies and Rays games as proof of his amazing clairvoyancy.

I think Cheney is the anti-christ.

The founding fathers believed in freedom of religion--not just Christianty.

And if Prop 8 passes--I'm out of here.

The Muslim faith began in the 7th Century AD. So what is this crap about him being of Muslim faith?
The rapture (dispensational theology) was put here by some aliens that are going to rapture some of us up for dessert served at a large wedding feast. I do know the exact date and time.
