Canyon Life

For the third year in a row, the red tailed hawks are back in the nest, perched in the high sycamore that provides protection and gives them an expansive view of the Santa Margarita River below. I noticed them about a week ago and remembered to bring my 300mm telephoto lens this morning. Dad was helping bring twigs over today to help prepare a comfortable bed for his mate.

I have taken so many pictures of the hawks over the years that they now pay me little heed. The county came by yesterday after I called  and fixed a blowout in the high canyon road that could have sent an unwary driver on a long trip down to the river. It's not the fall as they say, it's the sudden stop on the bottom.

Today a dark fox ran in front of my van, only the third I have seen in over thirty years here.

Hi Robert I ran by today and didn't see the hawks out but did see the repair in the road. Beautiful outside. I will keep watch for the fox. Beth Cobb
