Wednesday recap

It was a pretty decent day. I made my last car payment on our three vehicles, my van, yea! I had my first serious puff in a year and a half, wanting a bit of inspiration for the third or fourth day in a row of cleaning up the shop, have a client coming over Friday. Carved some pathways through the inventory. Shop is effectively a warehouse now. Shop has not been open for over six months I think, hope they look at the paintings and not the cobwebs and crappy carpet. Juleen borrowed my vacuum for Leslie's shop and busted it. Oh well.

The other thing I did was pretty neat. I got an email from a friend in Oregon, Toni. When I went to reply I saw that AI, which had neatly summarized our gmail conversation, had written my reply for me, Well, guess what? I hate that, I will write my own replies, thank you.

So I got on the internet and found out how to disable gemini and all the smart grammar, spell check and other autocorrect, autothink functions on my phone and desktop. Disabled all of them.

Now when I write it is my writing, no suggestions for words or civil discourse.

I am much happier this way.

Here's how you do it:

     Remove Gemini from Google Chrome

Disable Gemini in Settings: Open Chrome. Go to Settings > AI innovations (or type chrome://settings/ai in the address bar), and toggle off "Show Gemini".

Unpin the Gemini Button: If you only want the icon gone, right-click the Gemini button in the top right of Chrome and select Unpin.

Remove the Web App (PWA): Type chrome://apps/ in the search bar, find Gemini, right-click it, and select Remove from Chrome.

Disable AI in URL Bar: Type chrome://flags/ in the address bar, search for "AI mode," and change it to Disabled.

Disable Gemini in Gmail & Workspace

Go to Gmail on your computer and click the Settings (gear icon) > See all settings.

Under the General tab, scroll down to Smart features.

Uncheck "Turn on smart features in Gmail, Chat, and Meet."

Click Manage Workspace smart feature settings and turn off "Smart features in Google Workspace" to remove "Help me write" and AI summaries.

     IPhone

Open the Settings app.

Tap General.

Select Keyboard.

Toggle the Auto-Correction switch to off (gray)

Optional Keyboard Adjustments:

Predictive Text: Toggle this off to stop the iPhone from suggesting words above the keyboard.

Check Spelling: Toggle this off to stop the red underlines under misspelled words.

Text Replacement: If you only want to stop specific words from being corrected (e.g., stopping "lol" becoming "LOL"), go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement and add a new rule.

Oh my gosh! I hate when Gemini wants to provide a reply for me. Please tell me how to disable all of it. I would love to be rid of it and compose everything on my own without the help or suggestions from AI. I want my emails to sound like me, thank you very much!
