One of the worlds greatest type designers, Adrian Frutiger, has died at the age of 87.

Frutiger was Swiss, a titan in the field of typography and had a beautiful, clean style.

His typeface children included the font at the bottom of your checks and many very important faces including Univers and his eponymous namesake Frutiger.

He was the creator of so many beautiful letters. Here are a few of the many typefaces of his that I could find on Linotype.

The reality is that Frutiger could do it all, serif, non serif, modern, classic, his forms had perfect weight. He has left behind an artistic legacy that will stand the test of time and space.

Univers 45 Light

Frutiger serif italic - 2008

Didot Headline Roman - 1991

Herculanum - 1990

F2F Ocralexczyk - 1968

Westside Regular - 1989

You can read an excellent obit on the artist here.

I had not heard of Frutiger before your article. I did a little of my own research on the man... Amazing guy! Thanks for brining him to our attention!
