Both Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich expressed reservations today about continued U.S. involvement in Afghanistan. Kudos to them, for once I agree with them both. I don't understand our policy in the region since 9/11, $750 million dollar embassies, an surfeit of cranial injuries, deaths and amputees, ill conceived goals and an absence of a coherent end game strategy notwithstanding.
What do we hope to accomplish in the region again? With friends like the Pakistanis, Afghans and Iraqis, we couldn't be among greater friends, could we?
