Soul Kitchen

Not sure where the video is from, Golden Gate Park? The Matrix was Marty Balin's club, located at 3138 Fillmore St., opened in 1965.

Many of the San Francisco psychedelic bands were openly contemptuous of the Doors. Interesting discussion of the subject in Greenfield's Bill Graham book. Their live sound could be very thin and their brooding message a stark contrast to the technicolor optimism peddled by their northern neighbors.

I have several friends who saw them at the Whiskey at less than memorable concerts. Yet their music and poetry has certainly stood the test of time very admirably, incredible tunes like this one.
