hey robert, sounds like you have had some recovery. You sounded like you were at deaths door a few weeks ago and now you are running the shop, taking peoples inventory and the wifey is leaving town without you CONGRATS !

As far as the music scene, the new bands are where its at. If you saw the stones movie you saw Jack White, he is one of the best new guitar players, I am into 2 out of 3 of his bands (I dont care much for White Stripes, but love The Raconteurs and now The Dead Weather) Also I am into lots of other newer bands: The National, MUSE, etc.

Have you checked out Green Day ? Their ranting about America is right up your alley ! (American Idiot)
As far as the has-beens: THE DEAD, played 3 free shows in NYC on one night last month. They couldn't get a permit to do a free park show, so they played 3 small venues free. I went to all 3 and caught about 20 minutes of good music, some of the music is good but its is completely wiped away by the vocals. The best vocalist in the band is Warren and they dont let him sing lead for fear they will sound like the Allmans or Govt Mule. Incidentally the Allmans are the best they have sounded in 20 or more years. Have you heard the boards circulating with Clapton from the Beacon shows ?

Anyway, a friend pretty much summed up the new dead scene by saying, "these guys pretty much suck, but we are having a good time"

love ya

It is always such a pleasure to hear from you dg - I like Jack White as well but haven't heard enough of him. Good on you for staying abreast of things.
