New World Jews

Interesting video. Coincidentally, my mother's family from Moldova also settled in Providence. I had no idea Rhode Island had such history as a tribal way station. The fascinating story of Chaim Solomon is also new to me.

Yiddisher Black cantors
from 100 years ago rediscovered thanks to rare recording.
Discographer Henry Sapoznik tracks down record by international Yiddish-language performer Thomas LaRue, and slips into a rabbit hole of Black Jewish history.
