The Democracy Experiment

It hasn't been a real fun time for me lately on the blog. I unleashed a monster and I see the angry citizens of the town are now walking up the hill with lit torches. I am engaged in lengthy ecumenical arguments and listening to music that I frankly can't stand. And this was my doing and I apologize. Maybe I wasn't really ready to see my child go off to school. To lose control of one's progeny. So the democracy experiment is officially over. The first rule is "thou shall not bore" and I think that we were dangling very close to the edge.

I have changed the comment moderation format so that I will review all future comments for content. This will delay posting of some comments for a period of time and I apologize. If it is too much of a hassle we will change back.

Grumpy has left for Ohio with Sneezy and Doc to take care of a sick uncle. Well, that's the official party line. The truth is he is just now landing in Ho Chi MInh City for a short stretch at a reeducation camp. See the world and all that. Hopefully he will get his own blog and his devoted fans will be able to link to it on my site.

According to Wikipedia - the following are the original dwarf names as well as the ones that didn't make the cut for Snow White: The names of the Seven Dwarfs (Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy and Sneezy) were created for this production, chosen from a pool of about fifty potentials. The one name Disney always had in mind from the start was Grumpy, or something similar. Blabby, Jumpy, Shifty, and Snoopy were among those that were rejected, along with Awful, Baldy, Biggo-Ego, Biggy, Biggy-Wiggy, Burpy, Busy, Chesty, Cranky, Daffy, Dippy, Dirty, Dizzy, Doleful, Flabby, Gabby, Gloomy, Goopy, Graceful, Helpful, Hoppy, Hotsy, Hungrey, Jaunty, Lazy, Neurtsy, Nifty, Puffy, Sappy, Sneezy-Wheezy, Sniffy, Scrappy, Silly, Soulful, Strutty, Stuffy, Sleazy, Tearful, Thrifty, Tipsy, Titsy, Tubby, Weepy, Wistful, and Woeful. Titsy?, Burpy? What Farty was doing homework...

hey Robert-I recently got turned onto PANDORA.
Please check it out and tell me if I am nuts-this is fantastic. I have listened to all sorts of good music this week-stuff I did not know about. It works like this: say you like Ben Harper. You type in Ben Harper, and Pandora creates a virtual radio station for you called Ben Harper radio. They not only play him. They play other music that is similar. If they play something you do not like, you click a thumbs down symbol and they remove that artist from your playlist....I think this is fantastic and great way to get exposed to new artists. I plugged in Odetta the other day and ended up listening all day to Billy Holliday, Nina Simone, dina Washington as well as Memphis Minnie and Bessie Smith and Lil Green. If you agree with me, post it so all your blogger pals can get in on it....and they have a link to iTunes should you hear something you want to purchase. Pandora is free. They run pop ups but it is not obnoxious.

Stan - all of my pandora stations are posted on the bottom of my blog - try a few tasty nuggets for blues and bluegrass or liquid sunshine for rock.

I'll try not to use so many big words anymore. Maybe a post or two about pop culture and old rockers? Please don't send me to digital oblivion...Although Vietnam is hot travel destination these days.

am seriously considering a name change, to either Scrappy or Flabby, they have a nicer ring somehow...would prefer exile in Cuba over 'Nam, but will follow orders, like the good soldier that i am..
