The forest through the trees

I have a long drive every Sunday through the Santa Margarita River canyon to get my morning newspaper. As I was leaving to get the paper yesterday I saw a large white spot in a tree in the far distance. I figured that it could only be an osprey or a heron but it looked too large and bulky for a greater egret. And you rarely see them up in the trees in my canyon.

When I got to the approximate spot, the bird was either gone or hiding. Oh well.

Managed to spot it in the tall sycamores on the way back. It was an egret.

Joan is a Professor Emeritus at Salisbury University, a really sweet person, dedicated to protecting our remaining old growth forests. She will be speaking from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday the 13th of June, 2017.

I hope to see you there.

We'll be there. It's our book club selection for this month so this will be our book club meeting.
See you there.
