Think what thou wilt

Something slightly Orwellian occurred after Kyie Irving made his comments about Jews the other day. The Brooklyn Nets suspended him, saying that they were "dismayed by his repeated failure to "unequivocally say he has no antisemitic beliefs."

Is that really where things have come to? We are going to police how people think about other people and will now punish their "bad" beliefs?

You may hate Jews, Blacks, Whites, Mexicans, gays, what have you, you may love them. But unless you engage in outright negative behavior or actions against them, I think you should be able to harbor any feelings or thoughts that you have without subjecting yourself to a societal litmus test of probity.

We don't need to start doing brain probes and ferreting out bad thinking. It is a very dangerous, slippery slope, mandatory groupthink.

Having said that, if a team or a brand thinks that you are peddling falsehoods and are bad for their brand, they have every right to sever their relationship with you.

Holocaust denialism seems to be a line in the sand here, this has played out differently than his previous controversial statements. Since the NBA is primarily about business, I wonder if this would have played out differently in a market with a much smaller Jewish population.
