It's a Beautiful Day...Don and Dewey

I saw this band many times and they never failed to impress. Early on I saw them with Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks but later at the Tribal Stomp in Berkeley. They were on a bill with a lot of great bands and they rose over everyone. David said something like, "We are going to play some music for our creator now" and launched into one of the most psychedelic and beautiful forty five minute jams I have ever heard. He was a wonderful musician, a true virtuoso on the violin.

Mick suggests listening to White Bird live from Carnegie Hall. He saw them in Winterland in 1968.
