Such a great song.
I first heard it from Jan Garbarek & Bobo Stenson in 1974. Then by the group Oregon at a small jazz club in the late 70s.
It is one of the handful of songs I have in multiple versions from a variety of performers on my iPod - tho Pepper's is only available if one buys the whole album.

I like it so much, in fact, it is on the USB flash drive I put together to be played at my funeral.

My friend Stan was good buddies with Pepper. Said that his father was pissed that he ever recorded the song in the first place. Brewer and Shipley did a nice version too.

I love the original 60's version.
My Medicine Man, God bless his soul, said the same thing, that the song should have never been recorded as a rock song.
