John Hartford - Lorena

The Reverend Harry Webster wrote this song in 1856, having been jilted by the apple of his eye, Ella Blocksum. Her wealthy family owned the Zanesville foundry and they felt it would be beneath the family to have the young girl marry a poor preacher. Broken hearted, he left the ministry, departed Zanesville, and wrote this sad song.
