Cooper's Hawk

This enterprising and opportunistic Cooper's hawk was perched on the electrical cable above my bird feeders early this morning.

I have heard tales of these small raptors laying native oriole populations to waste so I hope he will scram soon.

It was a gray morning, shrouded in mist. This male acorn woodpecker could not have cared any less about the intruder.
