Terrible time

I believe that my good friends Ron and Crystal Wylie lost their De Luz house yesterday in a fire. I am numb and feel so terrible for them. I am still waiting for the exact details. These are the second friends to share the same fate in the last two months. I hope that the community can come together in some way to help them. Unfortunately bad things sometimes happen to wonderful people.

You can help donate to their Go Fund Me page here.

I am so sorry to hear this! My condolences to your friends. On the plus side, I think the fire department did a good job keeping the fire in the wildland to 1/4 acre. It could have easily been devastating had they not stopped it.

On the afternoon of Sept. 8 a non-forest-related wildfire swept through the towns of Phoenix and talent here in southern Oregon. More than 2300 homes were changed into smoke and debris in a matter of a couple of hours. Mine was one of them, so I know exactly how your friends feel. We got away with the clothes we were wearing plus a few other garments and essential documents - it pays to have a go-bag, even if its for only a few days. Fortunately, we had the foresight to have good insurance, so we're doing o.k - many others didn't and aren't. I hope your friends were prepared.

They had no power and nonsubstantiated reports are that there was no water either, the sdge shutdown not allowing them to draw from their well... A terrible tragedy.
