Roast duck with an orange pomegranate sauce.

We went over to our friends' house to have dinner and watch the returns come in. I was a little spooked and not sure if it was a good idea since I had a horrible premonition that things could go really bad. I don't want to talk politics but I can tell you that the food was damn good.

Roast duck with an orange pomegranate glaze, mixed vegetables and a hearts of palm salad. I love duck and pomegranate, first encountering it at the old Julian's Restaurant in Santa Fe and then at the late Copa de Oro in El Dorado.

The ladies didn't have their recipe so they winged it and it was truly delicious. The sauce was a perfect complement, not too sweet but a great tangy counterpoint. If we have to be miserable we might as well do it with good food. Thanks to those that made the meal possible, Sandra, Brian and Leslie.
