Not really, if Trump resigns and Pence pardons him, he's pardoned. Period. He's off the hook, not a felon.

But he is vulnerable to state courts regardless.

A friend of mine thinks Trump won't be prosecuted in NY state, because that's what dictatorships do.

I disagree, once he's out of office he's an ordinary citizen again and NY won't worry about the U.S. looking like a third world dictatorship. That's how much Trump has alienated himself.

I'm not sure, but I think if you accept a pardon, you've basically admitted to the crimes, you just won't be punished for them in the traditional way, i.e. jail time, fines, etc.
