Frolicking feathered friends

This morning I shot some pictures of a few more friends from my garden that I would like to introduce you to.

The mockingbird, a mighty singer. Camps right outside our bedroom window. Toughest bird in the barnyard.

Either a female or an immature male Allen's hummingbird. Didn't get close enough to ask.

And last but not least, a spotted towhee.

Dixon suggested to me today that I publish a bird calendar. Might be a good idea. I have a lot of shots. How in the world would I pick twelve?

I will give it some thought.

A few years back we lived in Metairie, Louisiana for a spell and were periodically entertained by a mockingbird that perched on the gabletip of a neighbor's garage and warbled(?) his heart out for a half-hour or so at a time. He'd even do a back-flip now and then. Quite a bird, that one.
